Modeling of light propagation in tissues

The aim of this research is to develop accurate dosimetry of light treatments and planning for low level light therapy by utilizing Monte Carlo simulation of light propagation in complex biological tissues. Knowledge of transport parameters including absorption coefficient and reduced scattering coefficient enables individualized treatments for portwine stains, fat removal, and interstitial thermotherapy of cancer, as well as optimal application of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT).
