Teaching & Advising

Courses

Recently I have taught Introduction to BMBT.5000 and BMEN.4810/5810. I have taught several courses in medical imaging and instrumentation.  You can use the link on the LEFT panel to access a more specific description of the individual courses.

I have developed two courses in the BMEBT Program [Medical Image Processing (BMBT.5120) and Biomedical Analytics & Informatics (BMBT.5130) which was later redeveloped into Biomedical Data Analysis and Biostatistics (BMEN.4810/5810)].  I am responsible for the continous improvement & ongoing teaching of these courses. BMBT.5120 had been last offered as an online course on processing images acquired through various medical image modalities (including X-ray/CT, Nuclear Medicine and MRI).  There are several other Medical Image courses offered throughout the academic year including BMBT.5110 and BMBT.5160.   If you have any questions about either my courses or would like general information about Medical Image courses at UML, please email me.

Advising

I have served as the research advisor for a BMEBT doctoral candidate who investigated classification of microcalcifications in dedicated 3D breast tomography.  She successfully defended her dissertation in May 2014. In the 2015 academic year I served as a project mentor for approximately an ECE Capstone projects team that was sponsored by the UMass Medical School Department of Radiology. Since Spring 2015 I advised several BMEBT students on their research topics and since Spring 2017 semester I have mentored over ten BMEBT graduate students on their capstone projects.

I am willing to discuss capstone projects or research topics with students in the BMEBT Program.
