Internships & Co-ops

Accounting Internship vs. Co-op

Accounting internships are experiential learning opportunities for students to work part-time in accounting while continuing to take classes. Typically, students are enrolled in three or four classes in addition to the internship. Click on the information in the left menu for Internship Information.

The co-op program on the other hand is a full-time employment experience where the student pauses his or her classwork. During the co-op, although the student is not taking other classes, he or she continues to have full-time student status.

The Accounting Department in the Mannning School of Business administers the Accounting Internship Program and UMass Lowell Career Services operates the Co-op program.

If you are interested in the co-op program ideally you should begin working with career services two semesters before you wish to enroll in the co-op program. For more information about the co-op program click here.

The Manning School of Business internships are coordinated and supervised within the college.
