Manufacturing Innovation and Neural Interface (MINI) Lab

Welcome to the Manufacturing Innovation and Neural Interface (MINI) Lab!

We are located at Falmouth Annex 205 in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and led by Dr. Lei Chen

The Manufacturing Innovation and Neural Interface (MINI) Lab conducts experimental and modelling work to generate theoretical and fundamental understandings of advanced manufacturing processes through innovative monitoring methods, numerical modelling, and data analysis. Through broad collaborations with healthcare and neuroscience community, the MINI Lab is working on applying advanced manufacturing technologies inspired by industry to improve the safety, quality, cost, efficiency, and speed of healthcare service as well as fundamental biological research. The MINI lab builds upon new understandings of the biomedical procedures from a manufacturing perspective to develop novel instruments and research methods to advance the design, fabrication, and implantation of the next generation minimal-damaging brain machine interfaces for better understanding of our nervous system.

Our research interests could be grouped into three main areas: advanced manufacturing processes, brain-machine interface, and biomedical manufacturing. Please see further details in the Research Page.

If you are interested in joining us, please refer to the Available Positions Page for more information.
