I am a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where I teach courses on Gothic literature, American literature, disability in literature, and New England witchcraft trials in literature.

I am the author of Industrial Gothic: Workers, Exploitation, and Urbanization in Transatlantic Nineteenth-Century Literature (University of Wales Press, 2021), The Transatlantic Gothic Novel and the Law, 1790 – 1860 (Ashgate, 2011) and the co-editor of Transnational Gothic: Literary and Social Exchanges in the Long Nineteenth Century (Ashgate, 2013).
