EECE 3550- Electromechanics

This course familiarizes undergraduate students with tenets of electric machines. The covered topics include basics of magnetic fields and ferromagnetic material, magnetic equivalent circuits, single-phase transformers, electromagnetic induction of force and voltage, rotating magnetic fields, synchronous generators, synchronous motors, three-phase induction motors, and dc motors and generators.

EECE 7100- Dynamics of ac drives

This course is devoted to control of dc machines, and conventional and advanced control methods for ac machines. The covered topics include dynamic modeling and control of dc motors, overview of induction motors and their conventional control methods, control of brushless dc motors, dq modling of ac machines, vector control of wound-field and permanent magnet synchronous motors, vector control of induction motors, sensorless control techniques, and direct torque control.
