Noureddine was appointed Dean of the Kennedy College of Sciences in October 2016.  His research work spans a wide range of areas of atomic, molecular and optical physics with contributions to spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, optical sensing, high precision measurements, and biophotonics.  As a member of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory mission, he contributes to the analysis of spectroscopic data collected by the Chemistry Camera instrument on board the Curiosity Rover. In addition, he works on applications of laser spectroscopy for the early detection of signatures of epithelial ovarian cancer. A native of Algeria, Noureddine received his Diplôme d’Études Supérieures in Physics from the Houari Boumediene University of Sciences and Technology in Algiers in Algeria, and his M.Sc. and D.Phil., both in Physics, from the University of Sussex in England. More information about Noureddine can be found here

Joshua Landis: Senior Researcher

Joshua is a senior studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He has been a member of the lab since the Fall of 2019 and is currently conducting LIBS measurements and analysis of COVID-19 infected saliva samples. His end goal is to explore the possibility of developing a new rapid COVID-19 detection method.

Khaoula Ouarrak, Senior Researcher

Khaoula is a senior at UML studying Biotechnology with a minor in Mathematics. She works as a research assistant with Dr. Rosalba Gaudiuso and is tasked with preparation and aliquoting of plasma samples from COVID-19 patients and controls, and analyzing them with FTIR and fluorescence spectroscopy.
