Biochemistry II
Biochemistry II is a continuation of CHEM 5500 with emphasis on metabolic pathways of amino acids and nucleic acid biosynthesis of proteins and selected topics in molecular biology and various areas of biochemistry.
Learning Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of:
Principles of Medicinal Chemistry I
Principles of Medicinal Chemistry I teaches fundamental principles of drug development, including concepts relating to both small organic compounds and biologics. Key aspects of the drug discovery process, including ideal physical characteristics, pharmaceutical properties, drug design, metabolism, identification of drug-able targets, will be covered. Additional topics include discovery strategies, statistic-based modeling (e.g., QSAR), structure-based and mechanism-based design methods, and combinatorial techniques.
