Create your own recording

By now you probably know that you can make your own recordings, but did you know that there are many options to accomplish that?

Listed below are just a few options available to you. Please be aware that while all of these options are available, editing a recording might require different software.

Echo360 has an app entitled Universal Capture which needs to be downloaded to your computer.

Echo also has a browser-based app (Entitled New Browser Capture) that requires no downloading, but is more limited when capturing.

For more info on either of these, go here- https://learn.echo360.com/hc/en-us/articles/5708519474829-In-Browser-Capture-vs-Universal-Capture

Universal Capture
The Universal Capture app (UCAP) is accessible after your login to your Echo360 account via https://echo360.org. Once you have logged in, click on the Create tab then New Capture:

That action opens up a new window informing you that the UCAP app is starting or that the UCAP app will need to be downloaded to your computer. Choose either the Mac or Windows version the first time if you haven’t already installed it previously.

UCAP will now start. If running for the first time, you will also need to login using your UML credentials.

Please see the following instructions for more details concerning UCAP- https://learn.echo360.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035408191-Start-a-Recording-with-Universal-Capture

Echo’s Browser Capture
Echo’s browser capture program looks somewhat similar to UCAP..

After choosing what to capture, you can also specify a title and where to publish (to your Library by default or a current course within Echo). See https://learn.echo360.com/hc/en-us/articles/5377709118989-Recording-with-Browser-Capture for more information.

Note: By default, you automatically publish the recording to your Echo Library. You can also title the recording and which course to publish the recording to save you time when making multiple recordings.

If you are accustomed to using Zoom, you should make a cloud recording (stored on Zoom’s server). Schedule that recording or start a meeting with yourself alone.

The finished Zoom cloud recording will reside on the Zoom cloud or if you have tied your Zoom Meetings to Echo, it will be automatically published to your Echo course. Editing the Zoom recording via Echo can now be done, if needed.

Explain Everything is a great application that lets you use your iPad to draw, diagram and annotate over just about any file. This, along with a self-contained recorder for both audio and video, makes a perfect addition as a tool for instruction.

Explain Everything comes in two flavors: Basics and the Collaborative version. We recommend to start with the Basics version, then, if needed, you can upgrade to the more full-featured version.

UML IT can supply a license for this software as needed, by request.
