In July – December 2018, the EcoSonic Playground Project™ was installed in Dorchester at the Geneva Avenue and Westville Street Boston Public School bus stop. The installation was selected by jury as part of the Boston Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics program “Play Around the City.”
The formal unveiling happened on September 6, 2018, the first day of school for Boston Public School students. In attendance: Mayor Martin Walsh; Laura Perille, Interim Superintendent of BPS; Jessica Tang, President, Boston Teachers Union; Erik Berg, Executive Vice President, Boston Teachers Union; and Melissa Higgins, Senior Director, STEAM at Boston Children’s Museum.
