WITHDRAWING

You need to be enrolled in 12 credits to be considered as a full-time student. If you withdraw one class, what could happen?

  • Case 1: you stay above 12 credits. Nothing happens, except a W on your transcript, which does not affect your GPA.
  • Case 2: you go below 12 credits. It could impact any financial aid and potential insurance.

If you must keep your full-time status, the best course of action is to fail the class. If it is a core class, you can take it again the next semester and the grade will be deleted (up to 15 credits). If it is not a core class, you can just request the grade deletion.

Can you drop a Lab but keep the associated Class, or keep the Class and drop the Lab, like Circuit Theory I and Basic EE Lab I? It is possible but you must discuss with the Dept and you must submit an Undergraduate Academic Petition.

Note: International students must remain full-time students, with the exception of the last semester. They must contact ISSO and request a Reduced Course Load.

CAN I GRADUATE?

In order to graduate, you must have a minimum of 120 credits, you must pass all your classes (obviously) and have a GPA of 2.0 minimum.

Do not forget that one of your Breadth of Knowledge BoK (or Gen Ed) must be from the DCA list.
If you are not sure, ask your advisor.

You cannot take more than two Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences from the same Department.

Depending on your Major, you must take two (CE) or three (EE) Technical Electives.
They are 3-credit courses at the 4000 level or above. Ask your advisor for more information.
If you plan to take a 5000 level, you must request permission from the instructor.

A 6-month Co-op will count toward one Tech Elective, but only if you are enrolled in the program.

HOW CAN I RAISE MY GPA?

You can delete up to 15 credits from your GPA, but only grades of C- and below.
More information can be found here

CAN I WALK?

The Commencement Ceremony requires you to have graduated previous Fall or Winter semester, or that you plan to graduate this coming Spring or Summer semester.

Contact the Department if you don’t find your name in the list.
