Bio

Amit V. Deokar is an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Prof. Deokar received his Ph.D. in MIS from the University of Arizona. He also earned an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from V.J. Technological Institute, Mumbai.

Prof. Deokar’s research is in the areas of data analytics, enterprise data management, business intelligence, business process management, and collaboration processes. His work uses different methods such as machine learning, data and text mining, ontologies, and conceptual modeling. He has published articles in journals such as Journal of Management Information SystemsDecision Support SystemsThe DATA BASE for Advances in Information SystemsInformation Systems FrontiersBusiness Process Management Journal, and IEEE Transactions. He has also given talks at numerous international conferences.

Prof. Deokar has held editorial positions in various journals including serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the e-Service Journal (ESJ) and as an editorial board member of Decision Support Systems (DSS), Information Systems Frontiers (ISF), and Business Process Management Journal (BPMJ) journals. He is involved in building industry collaborations and serves as a consultant to organizations in the areas of data analytics and business process management. He currently serves as an advisory board member of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) Special Interest Group on Decision Support and Analytics (SIGDSA). In the past, he has been the Chair of AIS SIGDSA and the President of the Midwest Chapter of AIS (MWAIS). He has served as the “Decision Support and Analytics“ Track Chair at the AIS sponsored AMCIS 2014-17 conferences, and continues to serve as a minitrack chair for the AMCIS conferences (2018-21). In recognition of his research and leadership role in the Information Systems discipline, Prof. Deokar was designated as Association for Information Systems Distinguished Member Cum Laude.
